Controversial Nigerian singer Portable, real name Okikiola Badmus, was granted bail by an Upper Area Court in Ilorin, Kwara State, following his arraignment on multiple charges. The accusations leveled against the artist include criminal defamation, intimidation, inciting public disturbance, and cyberstalking, stemming from recent events that led to his arrest. The court’s decision offers Portable a path to temporary freedom while legal proceedings continue.

okay.ng reports that the presiding judge set the bail amount at ₦1 million, accompanied by stringent conditions to ensure Portable’s appearance in future court sessions. These conditions mandate that he provide two sureties who can guarantee his compliance. Specifically, one surety must be either the Chairman or the Secretary of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN), highlighting the court’s desire for accountability within the entertainment industry.

Furthermore, the second surety is required to possess a landed property within a Government Reserved Area (GRA), supported by a valid Certificate of Occupancy. This condition underscores the seriousness of the charges and the need for substantial guarantees. Portable, who hails from Oke-Osa, Sango-Ota in Ogun State, now faces the task of fulfilling these bail requirements to secure his release.

The court has adjourned the case, with the trial judge emphasizing the importance of maintaining order and respect throughout the ongoing legal process. As Portable works to meet his bail conditions, the entertainment industry and his fanbase await further developments in this widely publicized case. More details regarding the specific incidents leading to his arrest and the subsequent court proceedings are expected to emerge.
