President Muhammadu Buhari has extended his condolences to US Vice President, Joe Biden over the death of his son, Beau.

Beau Biden died at the age of 46 on Saturday, May 30, 2015,after a battle with brain cancer.

“As someone who has lost a child, I understand how painful and almost inconsolable it can be,” Buhari said via a statement on Monday, June 1.

“The government and people of Nigeria stand with you at this trying moment for your family,” he added.

Nigeria’s President also said that only God could offer comfort to the Biden family following the painful loss.

Biden had earlier lost his daughter Naomi in a 1972 car accident which also claimed the life of his first wife, Neilia.

Buhari has also lost two of his children, Musa and Zulaihat.

Zulaihat died from sickle cell anaemia in November 2012, two days after having a baby at a hospital in Kaduna. The circumstances of Musa’s death are unknown.
