Okay News reports that Bamidele and Sani arrived at the presidential residence at approximately 4:20 pm WAT.

The All Progressives Congress appointed Sani as Chairman of its Ekiti State Governorship Election Campaign Council on April 26, 2026. The Ekiti governorship election is scheduled for June 20, 2026, taking place in Bamidele’s home state.

The meeting follows a gathering on April 22, 2026, where Tinubu informed the Senate leadership that state governors will determine the party’s candidates for the 2027 general elections. The party began selling nomination forms on April 28, 2026, ahead of the Senate primaries scheduled for May 18, 2026.

Bamidele said the April 22, 2026 meeting was one at which “far-reaching decisions were taken” on “matters of urgent national importance.” His candidacy at the Senate primaries will be determined by Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji.
