President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday sympathised with the Christian community in Nigeria over the death of the General Secretary of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Rev Musa Asake.

Asake passed away in the early hours of Friday after a brief illness. He was 66.

“The President, while commiserating with the family of the late Reverend, prays that God Almighty will comfort all those who mourn the departed, and grant his soul eternal rest,” Garba Shehu, Buhari’s media aide, said in a statement.

Asake had two weeks ago led a nationwide protest against the killing of Christians by suspected herdsmen in parts of the country.
