President Muhammadu Buhari has commiserated with the family and friends of a former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Aloysius Katsina-Alu, who died on Wednesday.

In a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, the President said he joined the government and people of Benue State, Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and National Judicial Council (NJC) in mourning the deceased.

The President noted that the jurist contributed immensely to the structuring of Nigeria’s jurisprudence.

Buhari affirmed that Katsina-Alu’s knowledge, experience and diligence impacted greatly on governance in Nigeria as he featured prominently in landmark cases.

“President Buhari believes the late Chief Justice left behind a legacy of discipline, brilliance and diligence that younger jurists should emulate.

“The President prays that the almighty God will grant the soul of the departed a good rest and comfort his family.”
