President Muhammadu Buhari will host his first presidential media chat on Wednesday, December 30, at the State House in Abuja

The media chat is said to be slated for 7pm and would be aired live on some television and radio stations as well as other platforms.

The inability of the Buhari administration to hold the presidential media chat in the last seven months of its existence has been generally noted as contributing to the perceived failure of the president at communicating with Nigerians.

Buhari has also been criticised for paying more attention to foreign media outfits since coming into office on May 29, sometimes making major policy revelations during foreign trips.

The presidential media chat was a constant feature of the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan till he left office in May 2015. During the live broadcast, Nigerians were usually asked to call into the chat room to ask the president questions.

Many citizens however complained of never being able to connect to the presidential media chat room while questions sent through social media platforms were also seemingly ignored.

It remains to be seen if the media chat with President Buhari on Wednesday would accept calls from the public, either through phone calls or from social media.
