President Jonathan’s Aide Oronto Douglas Dies

Top presidential aide and confidant of President Goodluck Jonathan: Oronto Douglas is dead. Mr. Douglas died early this morning, April 9, 2015 at the State House Clinic, a close family source Sahara Reporters.

The source stated that Mr. Douglas died from cancer-related complications.Mr. Douglas was an environmental activist on behalf of the oil-producing communities of the Niger Delta before he came to national and international prominence.

Source added that Mr. Douglas had been sick for several years. Even so, associates of President Jonathan said he continued to work over the last few weeks for Mr. Jonathan’s re-election.Mr. Douglas is survived by a wife and children.
