President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially unveiled the emblem for the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration and simultaneously launched the appeal fund at the Council Chambers of the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja. The ceremony, held on Tuesday, marks the commencement of nationwide fundraising and awareness campaigns aimed at honoring Nigeria’s fallen heroes and military veterans.

Okay News reports that the event serves as the prelude to the Armed Forces Remembrance Day, which is scheduled for January 15, 2026. It underscores the nation’s commitment to recognizing the sacrifices of military personnel who have served the country in times of conflict and peacekeeping missions.

Top security officials were in attendance, including the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun; the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke; and the Chief of Defence Intelligence, Emmanuel Undiandeye. Their presence highlighted the government’s dedication to integrating military leadership into the broader national observance and support initiatives for veterans.

Speaking at the event, President Tinubu emphasized the importance of national unity and the recognition of armed forces’ contributions, noting that the emblem and fund would play a vital role in both commemorative and welfare activities.

The ceremony also kicked off a series of engagements across the country to mobilize support for the fund, ensuring that veterans and families of fallen heroes receive tangible assistance in recognition of their service.
