Hon. Obidike Chukwuebuka, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has credited President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for rescuing the embattled Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, from an impending impeachment.

Speaking on Wednesday, Obidike suggested that Tinubu’s swift intervention through the declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State was pivotal in shielding the governor from what he described as an impending humiliation.

“President Tinubu’s involvement has significantly shaped Rivers State’s political landscape,” Obidike remarked, noting that while the specifics surrounding the impeachment threat remain unclear, Tinubu’s decisive action has been instrumental.

“His commitment to promoting peace and stability was evident in a recent meeting with Governor Fubara and stakeholders, emphasizing unity and cooperation,” he added.

The political turbulence in Rivers State has drawn national attention, with observers closely monitoring Tinubu’s role in calming the escalating tensions. Obidike highlighted that the president’s intervention was not just about averting a political crisis but also about fostering cohesion among political actors in the state.

“As the situation unfolds, Governor Fubara’s fate remains closely tied to President Tinubu’s influence, with potential far-reaching implications for the state’s politics,” Obidike noted, underscoring the critical role Tinubu continues to play in stabilizing the political climate.

The declaration of a state of emergency by Tinubu has sparked various reactions, with analysts suggesting it reflects the president’s broader strategy of maintaining peace and consolidating his influence across the country.

Whether this move will permanently settle the political turbulence in Rivers State remains to be seen, but for now, Governor Fubara appears to have secured a lifeline through the interventions.
