The Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, has appointed Prof. Carol Arinze-Umobi as its new acting Vice Chancellor, effective July 22, 2024. This follows the removal of Prof. Joe Ikechebelu from the position during a meeting at the Council Chambers on Saturday.
The appointment, announced by the pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Ambassador Gregory Mbadiwe, is for a period of six months, in accordance with the university’s act. Mbadiwe emphasized that the terms and conditions of Arinze-Umobi’s appointment are as approved by the Federal Government for all federal universities.
The university community has been urged to extend congratulations and full support to Arinze-Umobi as she assumes her new role.
