The Police Service Commission (PSC) has dismissed widespread reports claiming that it has opened a recruitment portal for new applicants into the Nigeria Police Force, warning that the information is false and designed to defraud unsuspecting Nigerians, Okay News reports.

In a statement released on Monday through its verified website, the Commission cautioned the public against engaging with fraudulent links and unofficial platforms circulating online.

According to the PSC, the publications being shared across social media and several unverified websites are “fake and entirely misleading.”

The statement added:
They are the handiwork of fraudsters attempting to exploit innocent citizens.

The Commission stressed that no recruitment process is currently underway, reaffirming that it “has not opened any portal for such an exercise.”

Reiterating its communication protocol, the PSC said official announcements regarding police recruitment will always be issued through authorised and verifiable channels, including reputable national newspapers, the Commission’s official website (www.psc.gov.ng), and formal press releases.

We urge Nigerians to rely only on information published through these official channels. Any recruitment portal not listed on our website is fraudulent and should be reported to the police,” the Commission said.

The PSC also urged members of the public to disregard the fake posts and avoid falling victim to scams targeting job seekers.

The clarification comes amid a surge in online recruitment scams exploiting the high demand for government jobs across Nigeria.
