Okay News reports that the Midfielder Federico Valverde delivered a standout performance by scoring a hat-trick in the first half. The Uruguayan opened the scoring in the 20th minute after collecting a long pass and rounding the goalkeeper before finishing from a tight angle. He doubled the lead seven minutes later with a composed strike across goal.
Valverde completed his hat-trick shortly before halftime with a brilliant volley after controlling a lofted pass inside the box, leaving City with a mountain to climb in the second leg.
Manchester City had chances to respond but struggled to break through Real Madrid’s defence, while goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois produced key saves to keep a clean sheet. Real Madrid also missed the opportunity to extend their lead when Vinícius Júnior had a penalty saved in the second half.
The result puts Real Madrid in a commanding position ahead of the return leg, with Pep Guardiola’s side needing a major comeback to stay in the competition.
