Real Madrid have terminated the contract of manager Rafael Benitez, according to Spanish website, Marca.

Benitez had not been fully accepted by Real Madrid faithful ever seen his appointment, and a string of bad results has forced club president Florentino Perez to sack the former Liverpool manager.

A 2-2 draw with Valencia on Sunday was the 5th time Los Blancos had dropped points this season, with the Real Madrid hierarchy obviously tired of the club’s inability to close the gap on table leaders Barcelona.

According to Marca, legendary footballer Zinedine Zidane will be named as his replacement. It is yet unknown whether it will be in a caretaker role or a more permanent position.
