Residents of the Ikeja area of Lagos State have launched a protest in front of the Ikeja Electricity office over exorbitant bills.

The demonstrators demanded prepaid meters saying that the Power Holding Corporation of Nigeria (PHCN) had been extorting money from them and not providing them with electricity.

The protest took place today, March 16, and the aggrieved residents reportedly threatened to burn down the PHCN building if their demands were not met.
