Quadri-Aruna

Nigeria’s Aruna Quadri has advanced into the fourth round of the table tennis men’s singles event at the on-going Rio Olympic after defeating one of the favourites Chih-Yuan Chuang from Chinese Taipei 4-0 on Sunday night (Monday morning in Nigeria).

Quadri took the first set 11-6 before claiming the second set 12-10.

He went on to win the third and fourth sets 11-6 and 11-7, to advance into the next round.

Chuang is ranked seventh in the world and seeded fifth for the Olympics. He reached the semi-finals at the London 2012 Olympics.

To get to the fourth round, Quadri saw off Yang Wang from Slovakia four sets to one.

His fourth round game comes up on Monday.
