RIYADH, Saudi Arabia – Cristiano Ronaldo became the first professional footballer to score in 25 consecutive league seasons on Friday, August 21, 2026.
Okay News reports that Ronaldo scored in the 83rd minute during a match between Al-Nassr and Al-Riyadh in the Saudi Pro League.
The 41-year-old Portuguese forward entered the game as a substitute in the 62nd minute and converted a low cross from Ayman Yahya to help secure a 4-0 away victory. The goal extended a scoring streak that began during the 2002-03 season when he played for Sporting CP.
The achievement moved him past Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimović, who held the previous record of scoring in 24 consecutive league seasons. The strike also brought Ronaldo’s official senior career total to 977 goals for club and country, leaving him 23 goals short of the 1,000 mark.
His career total includes 450 goals for Real Madrid, 146 for the Portugal national team, 145 for Manchester United, 130 for Al-Nassr, 101 for Juventus, and 5 for Sporting CP.
Ronaldo’s current contract with Al-Nassr expires in June 2027, and he has suggested that the 2026-27 season could be his final campaign as a professional footballer.
