Former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development Sadiya Umar Farouq has apologized to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for failing to appear before the commission to answer questions on an alleged N37.1 billion laundering scheme during her tenure.

EFCC spokesman Dele Oyewale confirmed that Farouq wrote to the anti-graft agency, explaining her current unavailability. However, Oyewale emphasized that the EFCC has instructed Farouq to honor the invitation without further delay.

Meanwhile, Halima Shehu, the suspended National Coordinator of the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA), has reported to the EFCC for questioning.

Okay.ng has learnt that Shehu is cooperating with investigators and providing necessary information.
