Everton have appointed former England manager Sam Allardyce as their new manager.

Allardyce, who according to reports, signed an 18-month contract with the Toffees on Wednesday, succeeds Ronald Koeman, who was sacked last month.

“We need a strong leader, he gives us that,” talkSPORT quotes Everton’s majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri as saying.

“I really want to give him the support he needs. He can go as far as he wants.”

It was also gathered that David Unsworth, who has been in caretaker charge of Everton for the past five weeks, will remain at the club as part of Allardyce’s staff.
