Africa is indeed a blessed continent filled with great talents in every sector including football.

Most African footballers, who play for big teams, are paid immensely for the great work they do on the field of play.

The question now is, who is the highest paid footballer in Africa so far this year? Most of them are new signings at the Chinese Super League and there is no doubt that China is seriously making millionaires out of the players.

The Nigerian footballer who plays for the English side, Chelsea FC as a wing-back opens our list of the highest paid African footballers.

Yaya Toure is the second highest paid African footballer. The Manchester City playmaker earns £220,000 weekly.

1. Asamoah Gyan – Shanghai SIPG (£227,000)

The Ghanaian international is the 8th highest wage earner in World football and number in Africa after signing a 2-year contract at the Chinese side, Shangai SIPG in 2015. The deal has seen him start earning a whopping $350,000-a-week (£227,000), a weekly amount only bettered by a handful of the planet’s best players.
