The Nigerian Senate has approved the request of President Muhammadu Buhari for a $75m World Bank loan for Edo State.

The Senate gave the approval on Thursday after considering the report of the Senator Kabiru Gaya-led ad-hoc committee which worked on the loan request.

Efforts by the Peoples Democratic Party member representing Edo South, Senator Mathew Urhoghide, to make the Senate reject the request did not succeed.
