The Senate on Tuesday set a two-week target to amend the 1999 Constitution to enable the creation of state and community police in Nigeria.

This move comes amid security challenges confronting the country.

”The Senate should direct its constitutional review committee to put in machinery to amend the constitution to allow for the creation of State Police,” the Senate President Bukola Saraki read during Tuesday’s plenary.
