The Senate committee on Interior, today, rejected the sum of N130 budgeted for the feeding of each of the inmates in prisons across the country.

The revelation was made when Minister of Interior, Retired General Abdulrahaman Dambazzau appeared before members of the Senate Committee on Interior for budget defence.

Chairman of the Committee, Senator Bayero Usman Nafada said the budgetary allocations for the feeding of the inmates was too small.

“N200 was budgeted for the feeding of each of the inmates in our prisons. And if you remove taxes and contractors profit, only N130 will remain, “he said.

In his response, Dambazzau said the ministry will look into it.
