Seplat Energy Plc, a prominent Nigerian independent energy company, has been honored with the title of ‘Reputable Brand of the Year’ at the Lagos PR Industry Gala & Awards (LaPRIGA) 2023.

The event, organized by the Lagos State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), took place in Lagos last week under the theme “The Game Changers.”

Seplat Energy, listed on both the Nigerian Exchange Limited and the London Stock Exchange, emerged victorious at the prestigious award ceremony, marking the 8th edition of LaPRIGA.

The event is recognized as a high-profile occasion that celebrates excellence in public and corporate organizations, aiming to enhance professionalism and encourage more investment in the field.

LaPRIGA has evolved into the Communications Industry Oscars, acknowledging outstanding achievements in reputation management, relationship management, and support for marketing functions.

The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), established in 1963 and chartered in 1990, serves as the non-governmental, not-for-profit professional association of Public Relations practitioners.

It is mandated to determine the standards of knowledge and skills required for individuals seeking registration as members of the PR profession.

The Lagos State Chapter (Lagos NIPR) is the largest and most populous branch, representing nearly 60 percent of communications practitioners in the country.

Comfort Obot Nwankwo (Fnipr), the Chairman of Lagos NIPR, expressed the chapter’s commitment to celebrating excellence and professionalism.

“The Lagos NIPR has a rich history of celebrating excellence and professionalism; of which this year’s award spotlight is on ‘Game Changers’ who have excelled in their fields of endeavour. For us, we will continue to celebrate ingenious contributions to the communications ecosystem propelled by innovation and creativity,” she said.

Seplat Energy’s Director, External Affairs and Social Performance, Chioma Afe, congratulated NIPR for its ongoing commitment to recognizing innovation, excellence, and professionalism in both public and private sectors in Nigeria.

Afe stated, “At Seplat Energy, our reputation is our currency. We are leading Nigeria’s energy transition with accessible, affordable, and reliable energy that drives social and economic prosperity for all stakeholders; and our commitment to this is unwavering.”

Representatives from Seplat Energy at LaPRIGA 2023 included Emmanuel Otokhine, the Base Manager, Western Assets, and Stanley Opara, the Manager of Corporate Communications.

As a strong testament to its reputation, Seplat Energy had consistently over the years maintained an international board, best-practice structures, uncompromising accountability, ethics and excellence, which are the hallmarks of the company’s essence.
