Sergio Ramos Closes In On Becoming New Owner of LaLiga Team Sevilla

By Adamu Abubakar Isa

SEVILLE, Spain – Legendary defender and former Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos has successfully reached an agreement to acquire a controlling stake in Sevilla FC, effectively becoming the club’s new owner.

Okay News reports that the breakthrough occurred following an intensive eight-hour negotiation session at a luxury hotel in Seville on Monday. Ramos, a homegrown hero of the club, fronted the takeover bid alongside the investment firm First Eleven Capital. He was supported by his brother, René Ramos, and a specialized legal team during the high-stakes summit with the club’s major shareholders.

The deal, valued at approximately €400 million (including the club’s debt), has received the green light from key power players, including former president José Castro and majority shareholder José María del Nido Benavente. While the agreement is firmly in place, formal legal steps and documentation are currently being finalized before an official club statement is released.

The takeover comes at a pivotal moment as the club’s Primera División status was recently secured on the pitch. Ramos had reportedly kept a low profile during the season to ensure the squad remained focused, but stepped into the foreground as the May 31 deadline for his Letter of Intent approached. The transaction now awaits final regulatory approval from the High Council for Sports (CSD) and LaLiga, as required under Spanish law for any acquisition exceeding 25% of a Sports Limited Company.

For Ramos, this move marks a romantic return to his roots, transitioning from a celebrated academy graduate to the institutional leader of the club. Sources close to the deal suggest the transition could be fully wrapped up within the week, ushering in a new era of governance for the record seven-time UEFA Europa League winners.
