Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, has married Queen Zaynab Ngohemba-George Akume Dajoh, a development confirmed by members of the Akume Dajoh family on Friday, December 26, 2025.
The announcement was made public through a Facebook post by a family member, Abraham Double-D Dajoh, who formally welcomed the new bride into the Dajoh family.
Okay News gathered that the family described the union as a joyful one, urging supporters of the SGF to continue standing by him while extending goodwill messages to the couple. The statement also welcomed Queen Zaynab to Benue State, Mbakor — regarded as the seat of Tiv leadership — and the wider Dajoh family, as photos from the ceremony circulated widely on social media.
Queen Zaynab was previously married to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, in a highly publicised traditional wedding in 2016, a marriage that ended in 2017.
Following the separation, she returned to her maiden name and later relocated abroad. Okay News understands that her marriage to Senator Akume has since attracted public attention due to her past royal union and international profile.
