Maiduguri, NIGERIA — Vice President Kashim Shettima arrived in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, on Friday afternoon for a series of official and social engagements at the invitation of Governor Babagana Umara Zulum.

Okay News gathered that the Vice President was received at the airport by Governor Zulum and a high-powered delegation of state officials. The visit is primarily aimed at commissioning several key infrastructure projects, including the newly built Government House Clinic, the Presidential Lodge, and a modern Protocol Office. These facilities are part of the state’s urban renewal drive and effort to upgrade administrative logistics.

In addition to the official commissions, the Vice President will serve as the Special Guest of Honour at the wedding fatiha of Governor Zulum’s children, scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, April 18, 2026. The wedding is expected to be a major gathering of Nigeria’s political leadership, continuing a tradition of high-profile social unions in the state.

Accompanying the Vice President are the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, and the Minister of State for Regional Development, Uba Maigari Ahmadu. The delegation’s presence underscores the federal government’s support for Borno’s ongoing developmental and stabilization efforts.
