FREETOWN, Sierra Leone – Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in Sierra Leone to represent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the 69th Ordinary Session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
Okay News reports that Shettima arrived at the Freetown International Airport, Lungi, on Sunday and was received by Sierra Leone’s Vice President, Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, alongside senior Nigerian officials.
Those present included Nigeria’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu; Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Sola Enikanolaiye; and Nigeria’s High Commissioner to Sierra Leone, Ayo Luther-Ogbomode.
The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo, Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to ECOWAS, Olawale Emmanuel Awe, and officials of the Nigerian High Commission were also at the airport.
Shettima is expected to join regional leaders, ministers, senior government officials, representatives of regional institutions and business leaders at the summit holding on Sunday, July 19, 2026.
The meeting at the Julius Maada Bio International Conference Centre is expected to deliberate on issues including regional peace and security, democratic governance, trade, economic integration and infrastructure development in West Africa.
