Bauchi, Nigeria – members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), popularly known as Shiites, staged a protest in Bauchi on Friday in solidarity with Palestinians as part of activities marking the annual Quds Day.
Okay News reports that the demonstrators carried out what they described as a peaceful rally, expressing support for Palestinians and drawing attention to their long-running struggle. Quds Day is observed globally on the last Friday of Ramadan to show solidarity with Palestine.
Speaking during the demonstration, an IMN representative, Ahmad Yashi, said the annual event is organised worldwide to highlight the Palestinian cause. He maintained that the group’s demonstrations are typically peaceful and are not intended to violate any laws.
Yashi also addressed reports about the killing of Ali Khamenei, Iran’s Supreme Leader, in an Israeli airstrike, saying the movement stood in solidarity with Iran and Palestine. According to him, Muslims should support what he described as the side of justice in the ongoing conflict.
