Nigerian singer Crayon has opened up about his past struggles with drug addiction, revealing how Babyfresh, the renowned music producer, played a pivotal role in helping him overcome his challenges.

In a post via social media platform, X, on Sunday, Crayon shared details about his previous substance abuse, acknowledging that he used to consume drugs like tramadol and codeine while living in the slums of Ojo in Lagos state.

The artist admitted to his past habits, including significant amounts of tramadol and codeine.

Crayon credited Babyfresh for being the driving force behind his recovery journey.

According to the singer, Babyfresh removed him from the challenging environment of the slum and provided guidance to break free from the grip of addiction.

“I used to do drugs back in the day! Trams? My highest na 700 milligrams! Skushi’s from ele! 2 big ragolis me and my guys!! Emzolyn I dey pop raw 2 bottles! Ref! But I no do ice shaaa!” he shared in Pidgin.

“And I no smoke Igbo sha me I get sense! Babyfresh picked me up from the slums he said you gats stop all those things I did!! All glory to God! I did! Now I do not smoke or do those things any more!!! Upon all the money wey I get! I am chilled!”

Crayon, who signed with Mavin Records in 2019, expressed gratitude for the positive turn his life has taken.

Despite financial success, he emphasized that he has maintained sobriety and is focused on his music career.

The artist has released several hit singles, including ‘So Fine,’ ‘Ijo Labalaba,’ and ‘Tele,’ establishing himself as a rising star in the Nigerian music industry.
