Sokoto Declares Friday Public Holiday for Eid-el-Fitr

The Sokoto State Government has officially announced Friday, April 12, 2024, as a work-free day, in celebration of Eid-el-Fitr.

The announcement was made in a statement released by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Abubakar Bawa, on Thursday.

The statement emphasized that the public holiday aims to facilitate the participation of civil servants in the Eid-el-Fitr festivities alongside their families. Governor Ahmed Aliyu expressed his well-wishes for a peaceful and joyous Sallah celebration for all residents of Sokoto State.

Okay.ng recalls that the Katsina State Government also declared Friday, April 12, 2024, as a work-free day. This move was communicated in a statement issued by the state governor, Dikko Radda, and further emphasized the importance of allowing workers to fully engage in the Sallah celebrations with their loved ones.

The additional holiday in Katsina State follows the Federal Government’s extension of the Eid-el-Fitr public holidays to Thursday, April 11, as previously announced.
