The Soundcity MVP Awards, Nigeria’s glamorous music awards ceremony, is back and ready to recognize the finest talents in African music.

The event, which is set to take place on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at the Eko Convention Centre in Lagos, celebrates the creativity and craft of African musicians.

The Soundcity MVP Awards provides a global audience with access to premium entertainment and promotes the African entertainment industry.

This year, the awards ceremony features 15 categories, including Best New MVP, African Artist of the Year, Best Collaboration, Listener’s Choice, Viewer’s Choice, Digital Artist of the Year, and African DJ of the Year.

The night will be graced with performances by some of Africa’s biggest music acts, including Rema, Oxlade, Dbanj, Vector, Ladipoe, Blaqbonez, Phina, Bad Boy Timz, Mohombi, Black Sherif, Kaligraph Jones, Lasmid, Spyro, and Magixx.

Desperados, Nigeria’s leading tequila-flavored beer, has been disclosed as a sponsor of the Soundcity MVP Awards.

The brand, which is known for providing Nigerians with exciting and disruptive experiences through music, intimate parties, and various art forms, is throwing its weight behind the event to spur Nigerians to be daring in their expressions and dreams.

Kola Akintimehin, the Senior Brand Manager for Flavored Beers at Nigerian Breweries Plc, said, “Nigerians are known around the world to be fun-loving people and our cultural expressions are highly artistic. As a consumer-centric brand, Desperados is committed to providing Nigerians with access to premium and memorable experiences that inspire them to think out of the box and challenge them to be better versions of who they are.”

He added, “We are excited to bring the Soundcity MVP Awards back to Nigerians after its short break. In an era when African art forms keep breaking frontiers on a global scale, we are glad to recognize the great individuals who make this possible through their talents, dedication, and hard work, while inspiring Nigerians to reach for the sky.”

Past editions of the Soundcity MVP Awards have seen performances from iconic musicians such as Davido, Tiwa Savage, and Joe Boy, among others.

The 2023 awards ceremony promises to be just as spectacular and will undoubtedly recognize Africa’s musical talents in grand style.
