LAGOS, Nigeria – The 2027 presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, Omoyele Sowore, gave the administration of Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu an F9 rating across all parameters on Tuesday, August 4, 2026.
During an appearance on Channels Television‘s program The Morning Brief, Okay News reports that Omoyele Sowore cited failures in security, power, education, healthcare, food security, and the economy during the administration’s three years in office.
When asked to identify positive aspects of the government, Omoyele Sowore stated that he could not find any. He stated that the national grid has collapsed, students are forced to take loans to attend school, and the Food and Agriculture Organization considers Nigeria among the locations requiring food assistance in 2026. He added that the number of multidimensionally poor people in Nigeria increased from 70 million three years ago to 140 million.
Omoyele Sowore said, “As I usually say, being a former professor or teacher—professors are what they call teachers in the US, university teachers—I would just ask the administration to leave. That would have solved it. But if Tinubu were to be in my class, I’d just ask him to go and find another school. Or go and learn…”
When the presenter suggested his comments aligned with those of the Nigeria Democratic Congress presidential candidate, Peter Obi, who asked Bola Tinubu to retire, Omoyele Sowore rejected the comparison. Omoyele Sowore said, “No, I’m not asking him to retire. I’m asking him to go back to school.” Bola Tinubu is seeking re-election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress in 2027.
