Spanish authorities are investigating Diego Costa, Atletico Madrid forward, for tax evasion totaling to 1.1 million euros, El Mundo reports.

According to the Spanish newspaper, “The tax administration accuses the Atletico striker of fraud totalling 1.1 million euros related to taxes related to his image rights in 2014.”

However, when AFP contacted the tax office in Spain, the spokesman refused to comment on the matter on grounds that he could not comment on “specific taxpayer files”.

Meanwhile, Okay Nigeria had reported that the Spanish Football Federation slammed an eight-match ban on Costa for insulting referee, Gil Manzano.
