Spotify has officially introduced music videos to listeners in the United States, Canada, and several other countries, marking a major expansion of a feature previously tested in select international markets. The update allows paying Premium subscribers to watch full music videos directly in the Spotify app across mobile, desktop, and TV devices.
Users will now see a “Switch to video” option while listening to supported tracks. Tapping it immediately transitions playback into the official music video from the current timestamp — a more seamless experience compared to the earlier beta rollout. Users can revert to audio-only mode at any time.
Once activated, the music video replaces Spotify’s short looped “Canvas” visuals, unless the user has disabled that feature. The videos also support full-screen viewing when a phone is turned horizontally.
Spotify plans to introduce curated video playlists before the end of the month for U.S. and Canadian subscribers, including themed collections like 90s Video Hits, Hip-Hop Throwbacks, Latin Party Hits, Country Hits,
