Music streaming giant Spotify has announced the launch of Offline Backup, a new feature allowing Premium users to listen to their favorite tracks offline without needing to download them in advance.

This feature, which starts rolling out globally today, will be available on both Android and iOS devices, including support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Offline Backup works by automatically creating a playlist from users’ recently streamed or queued tracks, utilizing cached data stored on the device from regular Spotify usage.

This playlist is personalized, evolving over time as users continue to listen. Songs can be filtered by artist, mood, or genre, making it easy to find the right vibe even when offline.

The new feature provides a solution for users who forget to download their playlists or want to conserve data while still enjoying their favorite music. It offers an efficient way to access tracks without using extra data or storage space.

After testing Offline Backup with select users last year, Spotify received positive feedback, prompting the platform to roll out the feature to Premium users worldwide.

Offline Backup will appear automatically in the Home feed whenever users are offline, provided they have recently listened to more than five songs and enabled offline listening in Settings under Data Saving and Offline.

For easy access, users can also add Offline Backup to Your Library.

Key Steps for Accessing Offline Backup:

  1. Ensure you’ve listened to more than five songs recently and have offline listening enabled in Settings.
  2. Add Offline Backup to Your Library for quick access.
  3. Update your Spotify app to the latest version if the feature doesn’t appear.

Spotify aims to create a seamless listening experience, offering this new capability to help users enjoy music anytime, anywhere, without worrying about their internet connection.
