According to P.M. News, Ikechi confessed to the attempted robbery at one Peter Ibeh’s house in Ejigbo.

Ibeh had complained that every Sunday his house was robbed which caused serious arguments among his family members. Thus he decided to trace the guilty party.

According to Ibeh, on the day of Ikechi’s arrest he hid one of his aides inside their flat and went to church with other members of the family. When the suspect broke in, Ibeh’s aide locked him from outside and raised the alarm which attracted other neigbours.

The 24-year-old was caught and handed over to the police.

Speaking about his motives, Ikechi said that he started stealing from people when he lost his factory job. He added that it was reasonable to break into houses on Sundays because people were being absent for a long time in churches.

Ikechi pleaded not guilty and was granted a bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.

The case was adjourned till 1 December, 2014.
