Coach Stephen Keshi has dropped 18 players out of the initial 26 invitees he called up ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Chad.

Chibuzor Okonkwo and Kunle Odunlami are two prominent names that have been axed, as the Big Boss settled for just eight players from the domestic league.

The players who made the cut are: goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi leading the charge alongside Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Azubuike Egwuekwe, Chika Akas, Bright Onyedikachi, Solomon Kwambe, Gbolahan Salami and Ikeckhukwu Gabriel.

Keshi explained that they will be joined by 15 foreign-based players, for the final phase of preparations for the match in Kaduna.

He also encouraged the players who were left out to continue working hard, so they could be considered for future games.
