Yoruba nation activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has declared that he remains on the Federal Government’s wanted list despite claims to the contrary.

In a statement personally signed and released on Wednesday in Ibadan, Oyo State, Igboho refuted assertions by Naja’atu Mohammed, a former director in President Bola Tinubu’s campaign council, who had suggested that Igboho was enjoying freedom of movement.

Igboho described Naja’atu’s claim as “unfounded and ridiculous,” cautioning her against dragging his name into what he called a propaganda campaign aimed at discrediting the Tinubu administration. He emphasized, “I’m still on the wanted list of the Federal Government despite the Presidency headed by President Tinubu”.

The activist explained that he currently travels using his German passport across Europe and other continents but cannot enter Nigeria due to a standing order from security agencies dating back to the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari. He recounted a violent raid on his Ibadan residence on July 1, 2021, by DSS and Nigerian Army personnel, which left two of his associates dead and thirteen arrested.

Igboho’s wanted status stems from allegations by the Department of State Services that he stockpiled arms and ammunition, accusations he has consistently denied. The activist attributes the government’s hostility to his vocal opposition to violence against farmers and communities in the South-West, particularly the killings and abuses by herders during Buhari’s regime.

He also criticized Naja’atu Mohammed for her silence during the Boko Haram insurgency and Fulani herders’ attacks under Buhari’s government and suggested that her recent comments stem from ignorance and a narrow perspective. “It’s because Tinubu’s government has resolved to tackle insurgency headlong rather than employing the service of the likes of Gumi which prompted spurious claims and mischievous propaganda by this woman,” Igboho stated.
