Super Eagles B Squad Kicks Off CHAN 2025 Preparations with 21 Players in Ogun Camp

The Super Eagles B team commenced their preparations for the 8th African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2025 with 21 players reporting to the training camp in Ikenne-Remo, Ogun State, on Monday.

Head Coach Eric Chelle had earlier announced a 35-man provisional squad for the tournament.

Promise Efoghe, the Media Officer for the Super Eagles, confirmed to that the camp officially opened at the Remo Stars Sports Institute, with the first training session held at 7 p.m. under floodlights. “A total of 21 players observed the session, while 14 other invited players are expected on Tuesday,” Efoghe revealed.

Among the early arrivals were notable names such as Nduka Junior from Remo Stars, Harrison Austin of Ikorodu City FC, and Lawal Mustapha representing Shooting Stars. Other players included Abdulrafiu Taiwo (Rivers United), Temitope Vincent (Plateau United), and Adedayo Olanipekun (Remo Stars). The squad also features talents like Shola (Ikorodu City), Nurudeen Badmos (Kwara United), and Sadiq Ismail (Remo Stars).

The list further includes Taofeek Otaniyi, Kayode Bankole, Ani Henry, Egbe Stephen, Atule Joseph, Tochukwu Michael, Aniekeme Okon, Ayomide Cole, Sikiru Alimi, Afeez Bankole, Leonard Ngenge, and Hadi Haruna, all representing various Nigerian clubs.

Nigeria, who finished as runners-up in the 2018 CHAN tournament, have been drawn into Group D of the 19-nation competition. They will face defending champions Senegal, Sudan, and Congo in the group stage. The matches against Senegal and Sudan are scheduled to take place at Amman Stadium on Zanzibar Island, while the final group game versus Congo will be held at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

Okay.ng reports that the Super Eagles B squad’s early arrival and rigorous training sessions underscore their commitment to improving on their previous CHAN performance as they aim to bring home the title in 2025.
