Nigeria’s Super Eagles have confirmed their qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) following Rwanda’s 1-0 loss to Libya on Thursday.

The decisive match, held at Amahoro Stadium in Kigali, saw Libya’s Fahd Saad Mohamed score the only goal in the 84th minute, dashing Rwanda’s hopes and securing Nigeria’s AFCON ticket.

With this result, Nigeria’s Super Eagles, who sit atop Group D with 10 points from four games, are guaranteed a spot in Morocco for the 2025 tournament.

Rwanda remains on 5 points from five matches, and Libya moves to 4 points, leaving both teams with just one game left and out of contention for qualification.

Nigeria’s final qualifier will be against Benin Republic at the Stade de Houphouet Boigny in Abidjan, where they will face their former coach Gernot Rohr’s side.

Benin currently holds 6 points from four matches.

Nigeria joins Gabon, South Africa, and Uganda as the latest teams to secure their place in the 2025 AFCON without needing to play on Thursday, thanks to favorable results in their respective groups.
