Abuja, NIGERIA — A group of youths identified as beneficiaries and admirers of Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim (Pantami), CON, successfully purchased a governorship nomination form for the former Minister on Wednesday.
The group reportedly raised over ₦60,000,000 (approx. $44,118) within just two days to fund the purchase, specifically targeting the Gombe State executive seat for the 2027 elections.
The movement began last Friday when an emergency committee was formed through a grassroots initiative to appreciate Pantami’s contributions to youth empowerment and digital innovation during his tenure in public service.
Okay News reports that the fundraising effort was entirely voluntary, with the total amount collected exceeding the ₦50 million (approx. $36,765) required for the form, demonstrating the depth of support for the “esteemed son of the Usmaniyya Caliphate.”
Representatives of the youth group visited the party’s designated venue on Wednesday to finalize the transaction. Supporters noted that the rapid collection of funds reflects Pantami’s impact through various initiatives, particularly in the tech and education sectors, which have provided numerous opportunities for young people across Nigeria. The Gombe State governorship race is expected to be one of the most closely watched in the North-East as high-profile candidates begin to consolidate their backing.
This development follows a similar trend in the current political cycle where support groups take the lead in financing the entry of their preferred candidates into the race.
