ABUJA, Nigeria – The Supreme Court has upheld the final forfeiture of seven luxury properties linked to former Central Bank of Nigeria Governor Godwin Emefiele.
Okay News reports that the apex court overturned a Court of Appeal ruling that had ordered a retrial, thereby restoring the earlier forfeiture decision of the Federal High Court in Lagos.
The unanimous judgment was delivered by a five-member panel led by Justice Ibrahim Saulawa.
The ruling effectively ends Emefiele’s legal challenge against the seizure of the assets and leaves the final forfeiture order in place.
