The Federal High Court in Abuja has granted suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Abba Kyari bail in the sum of N50 million.

The bail was granted in a 24-count charge filed by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), where Kyari and his brothers, Mohammed Baba Kyari and Ali Kyari, were accused of failing to declare their assets.

During the court proceedings on Thursday, Justice James Omotosho delivered the ruling, stipulating that Kyari must meet certain conditions to secure his release.

The conditions include providing two sureties who possess properties valued at N25 million each within the jurisdiction of the court.

However, Justice Omotosho emphasized that Kyari’s release warrant endorsement is contingent upon developments in a separate case.

Currently, Kyari is facing trial alongside four others for alleged involvement in illicit drug dealings.

The granting of bail to Abba Kyari follows the earlier release of his two siblings, who were also granted bail by Justice Omotosho.

The case has garnered significant attention, with Kyari being a prominent figure in the Nigerian police force.

Abba Kyari, known for his previous successes in combating high-profile crimes, has been suspended pending the outcome of the investigation and trial.
