Renowned fiscal policy partner and Africa tax leader at PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PwC), Taiwo Oyedele, has tendered his resignation from the company following his recent appointment as chairman of the presidential committee on fiscal policy and tax reforms by President Bola Tinubu.

Oyedele took to Twitter to announce his departure from PwC, stating that his decision to resign after over two decades with the firm is aimed at avoiding any perceived conflict of interest.

“After over 2 decades at PwC, I have made the hard but necessary decision to exit the firm,” he expressed.

“This is to enable me to focus fully with undivided attention on my new role as the Chair of the Presidential Fiscal Policy & Tax Reform Committee, which I consider an important national assignment. This decision will also prevent any potential distractions from real or perceived conflicts of interest.”

Expressing gratitude for the support he has received, Oyedele concluded, “Thank you all once again for your support, best wishes, and prayers. May God bless you all, and may God bless Nigeria.”

As the newly appointed chairman of the committee, Oyedele and his team are entrusted with enhancing revenue collection, improving efficiency, and ensuring transparent reporting.

Their mandate includes promoting the effective utilization of tax and other revenues to enhance the tax morale of citizens, fostering a healthy tax culture, and driving voluntary compliance.
