The Nigerian who joined Mika Lehkosuo’s side last year after terminating his contract with Turkish club Bursaspor has drawn the curtain on his 428 days old career in the Finnish league as he targets a new adventure.

The former Rossoneri defender who has made over 30 appearances for HJK played a key role in leading the team as the league runners-up with three points behind league winners IFK Mariehamn.

The 31-year old left back who has made over 30 apppearances for the club reserved his appreciation to the fans and the staff for their support during his stay.

“First of all, it’s a thank you to the football club of Helsinki,” Taiwo wrote on his Instagram page.

“Not just the director, not just the medical staff, the coaching staff, the players, the suppporters ,it’s all of you.

“If asked to write a script for my career 12 years ago, there is no way I would’ve been able to dream up this journey, I started here at the end of this ride and look back in awe of what l’ve experienced.

“The wins and the losses will be remembered, but what I’ll remember most are the people – the fans inside Sonera Stadium and the staff and coaches who pushed me and held me together, the teammates (and even opponents) who will be life-long friends, shares my ups and downs with family and close friends, and most importantly, the snapshots of my kids growing up and reading and watching Dad’s work.that is what I will cherish the most.

“Today, I say good bye to the football club of Hjkhelsinki.

“I want to thank the club for helping me become a better footballer and making me and my family feel at home during my time here. After this year I can only say thank you the club, to the fans that have supported me since the first day I wore this jersey [Helsinki jersey] and of course, thank you and good luck to my teammates who helped me settle in since day one not only as teammates but as friends.

“I take with me many memories, lessons and great moments that will live with me forever. Yes , it is time to say goodbye and face new challenges. I am moving forward to a new country, to another great club with amazing fans and I am looking forward to it but the time spent with you, as well as the happiness and love that I felt here will always stay with me.

“Once again, thank you for everything. I will continue to be a big fan of the football club of Helsinki, to whom l wish all the best and many more trophies and happiness in the future! Good bye Hjk Helsinki,” he ended.
