The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a scheduled electricity disruption in parts of Oyo State on Thursday, January 9, 2025, due to preventive maintenance at the Ayede Transmission Substation in Ibadan.

In a statement released by its spokesperson, Ndidi Mbah, the company stated that the maintenance work will focus on a 150 megavolt-ampere (MVA) 330/132/33kV power transformer, with the interruption lasting from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.

“The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) announces that its maintenance crew will perform scheduled maintenance on one of its 150MVA 330/132/33kV power transformers at the Ayede Transmission Substation in Ibadan, which will take place today, Thursday, January 9, 2025, from 10 am to 6 pm,” the statement reads.

The planned maintenance will temporarily interrupt bulk power supply to the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC), which will, in turn, affect power distribution to several areas serviced by the company.

“As a result, IBEDC would be unable to offtake power from the feeders attached to the said transformer. Consequently, IBEDC will carry out load shedding in the following areas: Oluyole, Apata, Lanlate, Iyaganku, Liberty, Eleyele, Express, Industrial, and Interchange,” the statement added.
