A teacher was arrested, charged and convicted of rape after sending students nude photos and having sex with them, prosecutors in California said.Riverside County Police said that the former special education teacher was sentenced on Friday, to three years in prison for having sex with five students from the Centennial High School in Corona.
31-year-old Summer Hansen pleaded guilty to 16 charges related to sex with underage students, including sending nude photos of herself.
All the victims were aged between 14 and 17. She met all of them at Saturday school. Prosecutors and the victims’ families slammed the short sentence.
According to the police investigation, Hansen had sex with the victims in classrooms, warehouses and cars. Hansen apologized to the victims and their families, saying that she is not a monster.
She was also ordered to register as a sex offender for life. If Hansen was convicted of all charges by a jury, she could have faced 13 years in state prison.
