Terem Moffi Selected as Replacement for Injured Victor Boniface in Super Eagles’ AFCON Squad

By Yusuf Abubakar

Terem Moffi, the OGC Nice forward, has been drafted into the Super Eagles squad as a replacement for the injured Victor Boniface ahead of the upcoming African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast.

The announcement was made by the team’s media office, Babafemi Raji, on Tuesday morning.

The decision to bring in Moffi comes after Victor Boniface sustained an injury that ruled him out of the AFCON tournament.

The OGC Nice striker was not initially included in Jose Peseiro’s 25-man squad but has now been called up to fill the void left by Boniface’s absence.

Moffi’s inclusion is, however, subject to the approval of both his club, OGC Nice, and the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

“Victor Boniface is out and Terem Moffi is in his place, pending approval of CAF and concurrence of his Club,” the team’s media office said.

The 23-year-old’s participation in the tournament is contingent upon the concurrence of these entities.

Victor Boniface, who missed the Super Eagles’ recent friendlies against Al Gharib and Guinea due to the injury, had earlier been ruled out of the AFCON.

Moffi’s addition provides additional attacking options for the Super Eagles as they prepare to compete in Group A alongside the host nation Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea, and Guinea-Bissau.

Terem Moffi, known for his goal-scoring prowess, will be eager to make an impact and contribute to Nigeria’s campaign in the 34th edition of the AFCON, scheduled to kick off on January 13 in Ivory Coast.
