Terrorists Kill Three Police Officers in Nigeria’s Kwara State

KAIAMA, Nigeria – Terrorists killed three mobile police officers during an attack on a security base in the Tenibo community of Kwara State around midnight on Saturday, May 2, 2026.

Okay News reports that the Chairman of Nigeria’s Kaiama Local Government Area, Alhaji Abubakar Danladi, confirmed the fatalities. “Yes, the development again happened this morning, the terrorists killed three of our mobile police officers. The local government is trying its best, we are evolving a synergy with the state and federal governments to stop this kind of unfortunate development. It’s not something we can do alone,” Danladi said.

The attackers emerged from a nearby forest around midnight West Africa Time to assault the security position before retreating.

The incident occurred 11 days after a separate two-hour gunfight resulted in the deaths of three soldiers in the nearby Kemanji community.

An anonymous local resident said the forest where the attackers hide is located one kilometre from the community. “The thick forest where the terrorists are hiding is just about a kilometre from the community, so it makes it easy for them to come out, attack the security people and return to the thick forest. I know the place is very big, but the government can afford to clear the whole place, chase away the terrorists and encourage residents to farm there. This would largely stop the killings. Government can’t just be looking while terrorists are killing soldiers and our police like chickens; they’re also human beings like us. Something must be done urgently,” the resident said.

Residents of Tenibo and surrounding areas have started relocating from their homes to other communities.
