The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has allocated N7.4 billion for infrastructure projects at the Akwa Ibom State College of Education, Afaha Nsit, in Nsit Ibom Local Government Area.

The Chairman of TETFund’s Board of Trustees, Aminu Masari, disclosed this during the inauguration of a newly completed N1.3 billion administrative block and ICT centre at the institution. Masari, a former Governor of Katsina State, stated that N6.9 billion of the total allocation had already been utilised, leaving N462.9 million, most of which was already committed to ongoing projects.

He noted that the completed projects represent part of TETFund’s long-term investment in educational infrastructure, aimed at improving academic facilities across Nigerian tertiary institutions.

“The total cost of the projects commissioned today is N1,391,116,511.32. From inception, TETFund has allocated N7,388,131,247.96 for infrastructure in this College. Out of this, N6,925,204,879.46 has been accessed,” Masari stated.

He reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to supporting tertiary institutions in line with its vision of ensuring Nigerian schools are globally competitive in a digital and AI-driven era.

Masari added that TETFund continues to provide tools and resources for learning, research, teacher training, and entrepreneurship to sustain educational advancement.

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, represented by the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ubong Umoh, praised TETFund’s contributions, highlighting its impact on both the state’s College of Education and Akwa Ibom State University.

According to Eno, the interventions align with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda and the state’s ARISE initiative, both of which are aimed at revitalising education to drive national development.
